About

Kartchner Caverns Campground sits in the foothills of the Whetstone Mountains within Kartchner Caverns State Park, offering 55 campsites with electric and water hookups. The campground features two loops located past the Discovery Center on the southwest end of the park. Sites include 12 pull-through spots ranging up to 60 feet and 43 back-in sites starting at 35 feet, all equipped with tables, fire rings, hose bibs, and power posts. Pull-through sites offer 50-amp and 30-amp service, while back-in sites provide 30-amp and 20-amp connections. The campground provides modern amenities including clean restroom facilities with showers, waste bins, dishwashing sinks, and a dump station. Three handicapped-designated sites feature paved access, paved pads, and wheelchair-accessible tables. All sites are single-width with ample room for slide-outs. Grills and charcoal BBQs are available in shared-use group areas. The park is famous for its world-class living limestone cave, discovered in 1974 and opened to the public in 1999. Cave tours can be reserved separately through the park. Kartchner Caverns is also designated as an International Dark Sky Park, offering excellent stargazing opportunities. The park entrance gate closes nightly at 10 p.m., with after-hours access cards available through campground hosts. A 14-day maximum stay limit applies.

Directions

Located 9 miles south of Benson, Arizona on Highway 90. The campground is off the main road past the Discovery Center on the southwest end of the park.
