About

Ramsey Vista Campground occupies a stand of medium-sized ponderosa pines at 7,400 feet elevation in the Huachuca Mountains of Coronado National Forest. The road that accesses the campground once served the historic Reef mine and townsite. Views of Ramsey Peak are excellent, and two trailheads at the campground provide hiking access into the surrounding wilderness. Each site has a picnic table, and the campground provides vault toilets and garbage bins. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. A horse corral is available for equestrians, though pack and saddle stock are prohibited within the campground itself. Motorbikes may only be used for campground entry and exit. Carr Canyon Road (FR 368) involves 7 miles of steep switchbacks that cannot accommodate trailers longer than 12 feet or large motorhomes. The campground operates April through November and closes seasonally from December 15 through March 15. Sites are first-come, first-served at $15 per night for single sites. Black bears frequent the area, so proper food storage is essential.
