About

Ramsey Vista Campground is nestled among ponderosa pines at 7,400 feet elevation in the Huachuca Mountains of Coronado National Forest. Located at the end of Carr Canyon Road, the campground occupies the site of a historic route that once brought miners and equipment to the Reef mine and townsite. The setting provides spectacular views of Ramsey Peak and surrounding mountain terrain. The campground serves as a perfect base for exploring the area's hiking trails, with trailheads accessible directly from the campground. A horse corral is available for equestrian campers, though pack and saddle stock are not permitted within the campground proper. Amenities include picnic tables at each site, vault toilets, and garbage bins. Campers should be aware that black bears are active in the area and proper food storage is essential. Access to Ramsey Vista requires navigating switchbacks on Carr Canyon Road, limiting the campground to trailers 12 feet or less and smaller motorhomes. The high elevation and mountain setting provide cooler temperatures during Arizona's hot months, making this a popular seasonal destination for those seeking mountain scenery and hiking opportunities in southeastern Arizona.
