About

Lake Wister State Park sits nestled in a ring of pine and oak-covered mountains, serving as a gateway to the Ouachita National Forest. The park encompasses five camping areas around the 7,300-acre lake: Below Dam (16 sites), Quarry Island (31 sites), Victor Landing (62 sites), Wards (25 sites), and Wister Ridge (15 sites). Victor Area offers 57 modern campsites with 30-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups, while Quarry Island and Wards Landing provide water and 30-amp electric connections. Beyond camping, the park features 15 cabins with stone-framed fireplaces, a water spray park, miniature golf course, swimming beach, and a group camp facility accommodating up to 100 visitors. An ADA-compliant paved trail in Wards Campground provides wheelchair-accessible scenic views along a 1/3-mile route. The lake supports boating, water skiing, and fishing, with the nearby Wister Wildlife Management Area offering additional outdoor recreation. The park roads can be tight for larger RVs, and while some sites list capacities up to 50 feet, campers with rigs over 35 feet may find maneuvering challenging. A dump station is available on-site, though low-hanging tree branches may affect access for tall vehicles.
