Queen Wilhelmina State Park Campground

Open — Open year-round for camping. Water at individual campsites is turned off December through February; a water fill-up spigot remains available at the bathhouse during winter months. Restrooms open March 1 through November 30. Highway 272 is closed for road repairs; Highway 88 West is the only route to access the park.

Perched high atop Rich Mountain at 2,681 feet elevation, Queen Wilhelmina State Park Campground offers a cloud-capped camping experience along the scenic Talimena National Scenic Byway. The campground features 41 sites with varying levels of amenities: eight Class A sites with water and 50 amp service, 27 Class B sites with water and 30 amp service, five Class C tent sites with water, and one remote walk-in tent site. Modern facilities include a bathhouse with hot showers and a dump station at the campground entrance. The park's location on Arkansas' second-highest mountain provides spectacular panoramic views and cool mountain breezes throughout the seasons. Campers can enjoy fall foliage displays, winter snowfall, spring wildflowers, and summer mountain air. All campsites are assigned and require registration at the historic Queen Wilhelmina Lodge before occupancy. Sites are available by reservation or first-come, first-served basis. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the park's trails, including access to the Ouachita National Hiking Trail, Lovers' Leap Trail, and other scenic routes. The lodge restaurant provides dining options, and seasonal attractions include miniature golf and a miniature train from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Directions

Located on Highway 88 West, approximately 13 miles northwest of Mena, Arkansas, atop Rich Mountain along the Talimena Scenic Drive. Highway 88 West is currently the only accessible route due to Highway 272 closure.
