About
Little Pines Recreation Area is one of the most recently upgraded facilities on the Ouachita National Forest. Built in a former pine plantation in the Poteau Mountain valley, all nine campsites are level and well-shaded. Each site has water and electric hookups, a fire ring, picnic table with BBQ grill, and paved parking. The campground provides flush toilets, showers, and a trailer dump station. Lake Hinkle, a 960-acre lake managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, is accessible via the adjacent boat ramp, courtesy dock, and fishing pier. The lake offers bass, crappie, bream, sunfish, and catfish. A day-use area with swimming beach and covered pavilion is located nearby. The area is 12 miles west of Waldron, Arkansas. Nearby attractions include the Belle Star OHV Trail, Fourche Mountain OHV Trail, Ouachita National Recreation Trail, and the Scott County Museum of History.
