About
Little Pines Recreation Area is one of the most recently upgraded campgrounds on the Ouachita National Forest. Constructed in a former pine plantation in the valley of Poteau Mountain, the campground offers 9 level, shaded campsites with modern amenities including electric and water connections, flush toilets, and hot showers. Each campsite features a paved pad, picnic table, fire ring, and lantern holder.
The campground provides direct access to Lake Hinkle, a 960-acre lake managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. On-site facilities include a boat ramp with courtesy dock and fishing pier, a day-use swimming area, a covered pavilion, and a short nature trail. The lake offers excellent fishing for bass, crappie, bream, sunfish, and catfish, with no skiing allowed. A camp host is on duty to provide assistance and answer questions about the area.
Located just 13 miles west of Waldron, Arkansas, the campground is convenient to town services including medical facilities, restaurants, and groceries. Within a few miles of the campground, visitors can access mountain bike, hiking, and OHV trails including the Ouachita National Recreation Trail, Belle Starr OHV Trail, and Fourche Mountain OHV Trail.
