About

Illgen Falls Cabin offers a unique opportunity to stay right at a waterfall in one of Minnesota's most spectacular state parks. This two-bedroom accessible cabin sits on 2,000 feet of Baptism River shoreline overlooking the 40-foot Illgen Falls. Originally private property, the state acquired this critical parcel in 1994 and remodeled the house into a comfortable cabin that accommodates up to six guests. The cabin features a full kitchen with microwave, full refrigerator-freezer, computerized oven, and glass-ceramic range, plus a gas fireplace for ambiance. Outside, enjoy the large deck with gas grill and direct access to the falls via a walkway. The pool at the base of the falls serves as a popular swimming hole. The cabin's private setting is approximately three miles from main park trails, offering both seclusion and proximity to Tettegouche's hiking trails and Superior Hiking Trail access. Tettegouche State Park showcases rugged North Shore beauty with spectacular overlooks at Shovel Point, rocky cliffs, and the 60-foot High Falls on the Baptism River, the highest waterfall entirely within Minnesota. The park offers 23 miles of hiking trails and numerous outdoor recreation opportunities year-round.

Directions

From Silver Bay, drive north on Highway 1 for approximately 1.6 miles. Look for a gravel pull-off on the left side of the road; the cabin is a short walk from there.
