About

Lake Keomah State Park encompasses 366 acres of wooded terrain surrounding an 84-acre lake in Mahaska County, approximately six miles east of Oskaloosa. The campground offers 49 sites ranging from primitive non-electric to full 50-amp electric hookups, all available through the online reservation system. Modern restrooms with showers, a dump station, and water hydrants serve the camping area. Recreational opportunities include fishing for bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, and channel catfish from the accessible fishing pier or two boat ramps (electric trolling motors only). A three-mile walking trail winds around the lake and through the historic village of Keomah, passing through diverse wildlife habitats where visitors may spot great blue herons, bullfrogs, and quail. An unsupervised swimming beach, playground, and picnic shelters round out the facilities. The park also offers a day-use lodge and group camping area available for larger gatherings such as weddings and reunions. The lodge is ADA accessible and can be reserved separately from individual campsites.
