About

Claylick Boat-in Campground sits on Cave Run Lake within the Cumberland District of Daniel Boone National Forest. This primitive campground features 13 campsites that must be reached by boat or by hiking approximately half a mile from the Claylick Boat Ramp parking area. Boat moorings are available for those arriving by water. Each campsite is equipped with a tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, and lantern pole. The campground provides vault toilets (one meets ADA accessibility standards) and potable water from faucets, but has no electricity or shower facilities. Campers parking at the boat ramp must purchase a day-use pass. Cave Run Lake is an 8,270-acre reservoir known for scenic beauty and excellent fishing, including Kentucky's state record muskie. The lake is jointly managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Forest Service. Bear-resistant food containers are required for all food, trash, and odorous items.

Directions

From I-64, take exit 133 and go south on KY 801. In 13.7 miles, KY 801 merges directly onto KY 1274. After another 1.9 miles, turn right onto Forest Service Road 968 (Claylick Road). The boat ramp parking area is on the left; the campground is a half-mile walk or boat ride from there.
