About

Twin Knobs Recreation Area sits on 700 acres along the north shore of Cave Run Lake in Daniel Boone National Forest. The campground features 200 sites spread across 10 loops, accommodating everything from tent camping to large RVs with full hookups. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, while paved spurs can handle any size RV. Bathhouses with flush toilets and showers are located throughout the campground, and potable water is readily available. The recreation area offers a sandy beach with a roped swimming area and spectacular lake views. Additional amenities include volleyball courts, basketball hoops, horseshoe pits, a boat ramp with trailer parking, and an on-site campground store selling ice, firewood, camping gear, and food. The 2.5-mile Twin Knobs Shoreline Trail and other scenic footpaths provide hiking opportunities with overlooks of the lake. Three reservable group use areas accommodate larger gatherings: East (up to 100 persons), West (up to 180 persons), and a tent-only group area (up to 60 persons). Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, with America the Beautiful Senior and Access passes providing 50% discounts on single sites.
