Fowlers Hollow State Park
Closed — Closed for the season. The campground operates from late March to mid-December.
Special Weather Statement issued April 12 at 4:55AM EDT by NWS State College PA
The combination of drying fine fuels and leaf litter, low relative humidity of around 35 percent and a southerly wind gusting between 20 and 25 mph during the late morning and afternoon hours, will create an elevated risk of wildfire spread across the southern half of Pennsylvania today. Residents are urged to exercise caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes, or matches. If dry grasses and tree litter begin to burn, the fire will have the potential to spread rapidly. For more information about wildfire danger and wildfire prevention and education, please visit the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources website at http://dcnr.pa.gov/Communities/Wildfire.
About
Fowlers Hollow State Park occupies 104 acres in a narrow valley carved by Fowler Hollow Run in south central Pennsylvania. The park sits on the edge of Tuscarora State Forest at the intersection of several multi-use trails, making it an ideal base camp for exploring the extensive tract of public land surrounding it. The campground features 18 campsites total: 12 sites with electric hookups suitable for trailers and RVs, plus 6 walk-in tent sites. All sites include a picnic table and fire ring. The park provides flush toilets, water spigots, and a sanitary dump station, though showers are not available. Fowler Hollow Run passing through the park is a brown trout fishery, and the area offers access to hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and hunting opportunities in the adjacent state forest. The park is open year-round for day use from sunrise to sunset, though camping is seasonal. In the late 1800s, the current picnic area was the site of a sawmill that supplied lumber products to the forest industry. Cell service is unpredictable in the area, and the park is managed by Colonel Denning State Park office.
