High water continues across portions of the far eastern Rainy River watershed due to the effects of runoff from heavy rains and snowmelt from earlier this week. Expect high, fast moving water on area rivers and elevated lake levels. Water levels are near or just surpassed those seen during flood events in Spring 2022 and June 2024. Further water level increases are possible through this weekend after which slow declines should begin. * WHAT...Flooding caused by runoff from rain and snowmelt continues. * WHERE...In Minnesota, Cook and Lake Counties. * WHEN...Until 700 PM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 948 AM CDT Friday, automated river gages and the public reported flooding in the advisory area. Judge C.R. Magney Campground is a quiet, peaceful campground located within Judge C.R. Magney State Park along Minnesota's scenic North Shore. The heavily wooded campground features 27 well-spaced drive-in sites, offering privacy and a serene camping experience along the Brule River. The park is best known for the Devil's Kettle waterfall, where the Brule River splits around volcanic rock with half plunging 50 feet into a pool and the other half pouring into a mysterious pothole. The campground operates seasonally from early May through mid-October, with amenities including flush toilets and showers during the camping season. The park itself is open year-round for day use, with vault toilets available throughout the year. The Superior Hiking Trail passes through the park, and approximately 9 miles of trails wind through dense birch and aspen forests, offering scenic views of the Brule River rapids and Lake Superior. Wildlife viewing opportunities include moose, deer, black bears, and various bird species.
