About

Cascade River State Park Group Campground offers 2 tent-only group campsites located along Minnesota's scenic North Shore. Each site can accommodate up to 20 people and is situated approximately 75 yards from the parking area. The park's main attraction is the Cascade River, which plunges 120 feet through a twisting gorge in its final quarter-mile to Lake Superior, creating spectacular waterfalls. Campers have access to hiking trails ranging from the 1.2-mile Lake Trail along the rocky Superior shoreline to the challenging 3.5-mile Lookout Mountain loop that climbs to 1,200 feet elevation. The park features approximately 1.5 miles of mostly undeveloped Lake Superior shoreline and offers excellent fishing opportunities for rainbow trout, brook trout, and seasonal salmon runs. Facilities include seasonal flush toilets and showers during the warmer months, with vault toilets available year-round. The campground is open year-round for group camping. The park showcases historic stonework from the 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps era, and the trail center building near the parking area provides shelter and can be rented for day use.
