About

Devil Track Lake Campground is a nicely wooded 16-site campground located on the shore of Devil Track Lake in Superior National Forest's Gunflint Ranger District. The campground sits in an area with many young pines, providing excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and a natural, forested atmosphere. The lake's name is a rough translation of the Ojibwe word, with 'spirit' better capturing the original concept than 'devil.' The campground offers first-come, first-served camping with no advance reservations. All 16 sites are pull-in style and can accommodate moderate-sized RVs, though they are not specifically designed for large rigs. Each site includes a fire ring and table. A solar-powered drinking water faucet provides potable water during the operating season, and vault toilets serve the campground. Devil Track Lake offers good fishing opportunities, and boaters have multiple access points. A carry-down boat launch and pier are located within the campground, while a drive-in boat ramp is situated about 0.5 miles away. The lake accommodates both motorized and non-motorized watercraft. During the winter months, the campground becomes part of the Expressway Snowmobile Trail system, and free winter camping is available year-round on a first-come, first-served basis.
