Devil Track Lake Campground

About

Devil Track Lake Campground is a scenic first-come, first-served campground operated by the Superior National Forest, located on the wooded shore of Devil Track Lake near Grand Marais. The 16 pull-in sites are set among young pines, creating an excellent setting for wildlife observation. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, potable water from a solar-powered faucet, fire rings, and trash containers. Boating access is convenient with a carry-down boat launch at the campground and a drive-in boat ramp approximately 0.5 miles away. The lake offers opportunities for both motorized and non-motorized boating, as well as lake fishing year-round. During winter months, the area is accessible via the Expressway Snowmobile Trail and offers free primitive winter camping. The campground allows up to 9 people per site. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a 6-foot maximum leash, with owners required to pick up waste and keep pets in tents or vehicles at night. Each site fee includes one vehicle plus one towed vehicle such as a boat trailer.

Directions

From MN 61 in Grand Marais, turn north on County Road 12 (Gunflint Trail). Follow CR 12 about 4 miles to County Road 8. Turn left on CR 8 and follow it 5.7 miles to the fork of CR 8 and CR 27. Veer left to stay on CR 8. Follow CR 8 about 2.7 miles until you reach the campground. All roads are paved to the campground drive.
