About
Two Island Lake Campground is a 36-site fee campground located approximately 15 miles northwest of Grand Marais in the Superior National Forest. Situated on the shores of Two Island Lake, this campground offers a quieter alternative to busier North Shore destinations while still providing full amenities including drinking water, vault toilets, and trash collection. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. The lake is popular among anglers for its healthy populations of walleye, smallmouth bass, and northern pike. A boat ramp provides easy access for fishing and paddling. The campground accommodates both tent campers and RVs, though vehicle length is limited. All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Two Island Lake serves as an excellent base camp for exploring the surrounding area. The nearby Twin Lakes Canoe Route offers backcountry paddling and camping experiences similar to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness but without permit requirements. The Eagle Mountain Trail, located four miles west, provides hiking access into the BWCAW and leads to the summit of Eagle Mountain, Minnesota's tallest peak at 2,301 feet.
