About

Jones Fork Campground sits on the southeastern shore of Union Valley Reservoir in Eldorado National Forest's Crystal Basin Recreation Area, approximately 23 miles east of Placerville via Highway 50 and 13.5 miles north on Ice House Road. The campground is named for the Jones Fork of Silver Creek and provides access to the reservoir's fishing and boating opportunities. With only 10 sites, Jones Fork offers a more relaxed atmosphere compared to larger facilities in the area. Seven sites accommodate tents only while three can handle tents, trailers, or RVs. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are provided but there is no potable water on site. Bears frequent the area, and all food, toiletries, and garbage must be stored in the bear boxes provided. The campground operates on a first-come first-served basis with no advance reservations. Sites cost $10 per night with a $5 extra vehicle fee. Maximum stay is 14 days per district annually. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out at 1:00 PM. Interagency Senior and Access passes are accepted.
