About

Silver Creek Group Campground offers a secluded group camping experience in the Crystal Basin Recreation Area of Eldorado National Forest. The single group site accommodates up to 40 guests for tent camping, with 9 walk-to units and 4 sites with parking spurs. A central kitchen area features one large communal fire ring, and bear boxes are provided for food storage. The campground sits beneath towering ponderosa pines along the South Fork Silver Creek. Campers should note that no potable water is available; bring your own water supply or properly boil stream water. Vault toilets are on site. Dump station and showers are available at nearby Ice House and Fashoda campgrounds respectively. The area offers excellent fishing for rainbow and brown trout in Silver Creek, and Ice House Reservoir is less than 2 miles away for boating, swimming, and jet skiing. The campground is part of the historic gold mining territory of the 1800s, and the nearby Desolation Wilderness provides backcountry exploration opportunities. Wildlife including black bears, mule deer, and various birds frequent the area.
