About

Hyalite Pavilion is a day-use picnic facility at Hyalite Reservoir in the Custer Gallatin National Forest. The covered 20x50-foot structure seats approximately 30 people at built-in tables, with room for additional portable seating up to 80 guests. Inside are two barbecue grills and a fireplace; outside is a fire ring surrounded by sitting boulders. The site is adjacent to Hyalite Reservoir, which offers boating, canoeing, and fishing for cutthroat trout and arctic grayling. The West Shore Trail and other Hyalite Canyon hiking trails are accessible from the day-use area. An accessible vault toilet is located approximately 250 feet away, and a hand pump for water is about 100 yards from the pavilion. This is strictly a day-use facility. Overnight camping is prohibited at the pavilion. The facility closes from 10 PM to 6 AM. Campers seeking overnight accommodations should use Hood Creek Campground, located approximately 1.5 miles away on the opposite side of the reservoir.

Directions

From Main Street in Bozeman, travel south on 19th Avenue for 7 miles to paved Hyalite Canyon Road. Turn left and continue approximately 9 miles to the Hyalite Day Use parking area. The Pavilion is located at the far end of the parking area.
