About

Chisholm Campground is located next to scenic Hyalite Reservoir in the Bozeman Ranger District of Custer Gallatin National Forest, 18 miles south of Bozeman, Montana. The campground sits at 6,700 feet elevation in a forest of pine and fir trees, with the East Fork Hyalite Creek running alongside its north side. Hyalite Reservoir is a no-wake zone, making it ideal for canoeing and fishing. Anglers can fish for Yellowstone cutthroat trout, Arctic grayling, and brook trout in the reservoir, as well as in Hyalite Creek and the East Fork. Hiking opportunities abound, with the popular Hyalite Peak Trail being a highlight. This challenging 7.5-mile one-way trail gains 3,450 feet in elevation as it climbs past numerous waterfalls to beautiful Hyalite Lake and Peak. The campground features 10 sites with picnic tables, fire rings, trash service, and drinking water from a hand pump. All sites are reservable through Recreation.gov. Sites average 14' x 60' and 28' x 35' parking spurs, accommodating most RVs and trailers.

Directions

From Main Street in Bozeman, take 19th Avenue south for 7 miles to the paved Hyalite Canyon Road. Turn left and continue south for 11 miles to the campground. The last mile of road is gravel.
