About
Holiday Spring Campground is a primitive, no-fee campground located approximately 15 miles northeast of Ashland, Montana, in the Ashland Ranger District of Custer Gallatin National Forest. This small campground features just three campsites, making it an ideal destination for campers seeking solitude and a genuine backcountry experience in Montana's rugged Powder River country.
The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire pit, and accessible vault toilets are available. However, this is a primitive facility with no potable water, no trash service, and no firewood provided. Campers must come prepared with their own water supply and must pack out all trash. The campground enforces a 10-day stay limit.
Access to Holiday Spring Campground is weather dependent, as the journey requires traveling on Forest Road 4777 and East Fork Otter Creek Road. From Ashland, head east on Highway 212 for about 6 miles, then turn northeast onto East Fork Otter Creek Road for approximately 10 miles before reaching the campground area. The remote location and minimal development make this an excellent choice for experienced campers looking to escape crowds and enjoy the quiet beauty of eastern Montana's forested landscapes.
