Haw River State Park

Open — Open year-round for group reservations only. The park does not offer traditional camping or individual campsites.

About

Haw River State Park is a unique state park in the North Carolina system that does not offer traditional camping facilities. Instead, the park centers on The Summit, a residential environmental education and conference center that provides full-service group accommodations for 10 to 180 people. The Summit features motel-style lodging and cabins, dining services, multiple meeting spaces, a gymnasium, athletic field, disc golf course, outdoor pool, and a challenge course. Located in Guilford and Rockingham counties approximately 15 miles north of Greensboro, the park sits at the headwaters of the Haw River on picturesque terrain. Day-use visitors can explore trails and a boardwalk that journey through wetlands and floodplain swamp ecosystems, where great blue herons and other wildlife are commonly observed. The park hosts the award-winning annual Grand Camp for grandparents and grandchildren, as well as summer day camps. This developing state park serves primarily as a conference and education venue rather than a traditional camping destination. Reservations are handled through the North Carolina State Parks reservation system for group bookings only.
