About

Located at Fairy Stone State Park in Virginia's Blue Ridge highlands, the group campground provides a primitive camping experience for organized groups. The facility consists of six tent-only sites, each with a 16' x 16' sandy tent pad, picnic table, grill, and lantern holder. Groups must reserve a minimum of three sites to use this area. The campground has no water or electric hookups, but a central bathhouse with hot showers and running water serves all sites. Additional amenities include extra tables, a large grill, and a campfire ring available for group activities. The group campground sits near the park's cabin area and four yurts, providing a more secluded camping experience while maintaining access to park facilities. Campers can explore 10 miles of multi-use trails in the Little Mountain Trail System, swim at the guarded beach on the 168-acre Fairy Stone Lake during summer months, and rent boats including kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats. The park is named for the cross-shaped staurolite crystals found in the area, known as fairy stones. Fairy Stone State Park, one of Virginia's original six state parks constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, spans 4,741 acres and sits just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway.
