About
Goose Point Campground is nestled on the shores of Philpott Lake in the rugged foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground offers 63 campsites with spectacular mountain views, including 53 sites with electric and water hookups and 10 non-electric sites. The campground provides flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, and a dump station during the camping season. Philpott Lake covers 2,900 acres with 100 miles of shoreline, featuring clear water and natural shorelines surrounded by beautiful mixed forests of oak, maple, hickory, pine, and cedar. The lake's steep, rocky banks create a unique and scenic environment. Wildlife is abundant throughout the area, with deer, turkeys, squirrels, raccoons, and a variety of songbirds and waterfowl commonly viewed. The campground includes family-friendly amenities such as a swimming beach, boat ramp, dock, fishing pier, picnic shelter, playground, and amphitheater. Anglers can fish for large and smallmouth bass, walleye, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. Many miles of hiking and biking trails surround the lake. The campground is adjacent to Fairystone State Park and Fairystone Farms Wildlife Management Area. Access roads are hilly, winding, and narrow, which may be challenging for larger RVs. Alcohol is prohibited, and park gates are closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
