About

Happy Meadows Campground is situated along the South Platte River near the Eleven Mile Reservoir and Eleven Mile Canyon in Pike National Forest. The campground offers seven reservable RV sites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and pedestal grill. Parking spurs are 20-30 feet with a maximum trailer length of 22 feet, making this best suited for smaller RVs and trailers. The South Platte River provides world-class trout fishing and is just a short walk from the campsites. Tubing is popular during warmer months, and the area offers excellent hiking opportunities. Eleven Mile Canyon, with its towering gray granite walls rising 500 feet above the river, provides scenic views and additional recreation. The Tarryall Valley and nearby Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument offer more exploration options. Located at 7,900 feet elevation, Happy Meadows operates seasonally and is managed by a concessionaire. The campground requires bear-aware camping practices with all food and attractants stored properly. The town of Lake George is 3 miles away with a general store, tackle shop, and additional services. Reservations are available up to 5 days in advance through Recreation.gov, with unreserved sites becoming first-come, first-served.

Directions

From Denver and Colorado Springs, take I-25 to Highway 24 west toward Woodland Park. At Lake George on US-24, turn north on County Road 77 (Tarryall Road). Travel about 1 mile and turn east on County Road 112. Continue on County Road 112, turning right at the dead end. The campground will be on the right after about 1 mile.
