Hammonasset Picnic Shelter is a reservable day-use pavilion located within Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Connecticut. The 20x60 foot open-air shelter accommodates up to 65 guests and includes 12 picnic tables and 2 pedestal grills. Restrooms are located approximately 500 feet away, with the concession stand and beach about 100 feet from the pavilion. This is strictly a day-use facility and does not permit overnight camping. Rental hours run from 8:00 a.m. until 30 minutes before sunset, at which point all guests must depart with the area cleaned. Amplified music, bounce houses, inflatable equipment, and water balloons are prohibited. Reservations must be made at least 7 days in advance and can be booked up to 11 months ahead through ReserveAmerica. The broader park offers over 2 miles of sandy beach, swimming, a boardwalk, bath houses, and the Meigs Point Nature Center with educational programs during summer months.

Directions

From I-95: Take Exit 62. From the south, turn right off the exit; from the north, turn left. Head south on Hammonasset Connector for approximately 1 mile, go straight through the traffic light crossing Route 1 (Boston Post Road) into the park.
