About

Grizzly Campground sits at 4,200 feet elevation in the Ranch Creek drainage of the Lolo National Forest, approximately 32 miles from Missoula. The campground features 9 campsites in a forested setting, with several sites directly bordering Ranch Creek. The location provides easy access to Rock Creek, a blue ribbon trout stream known for excellent fishing opportunities. The campground underwent water system upgrades in 2025 through Great American Outdoors Act funding. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. The nearby Grizzly Trailhead offers hiking opportunities in the surrounding forest. Due to the narrow and rough access road along Ranch Creek Road, trailers, motorhomes, and tow vehicles are not recommended. Bear safety and food storage requirements are in effect for the entire Lolo National Forest. Campers must properly store all food and attractants. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a moderate usage level.

Directions

From Missoula, drive 20 miles east on Interstate 90 to Rock Creek exit #126. Drive 11.5 miles south on Rock Creek Road #102, then 1 mile east on Ranch Creek Road. Trailers, motorhomes, and tow vehicles not recommended due to narrow and rough road conditions.
