Beavertail Hill State Park

Open

Open for camping. Water systems become operational the Thursday before Memorial Day (May 21, 2026) and run through October. Vehicle access closes October 31; from November through late May the park is walk-in day-use only with no overnight camping.

About

Beavertail Hill State Park occupies 65 acres along the Clark Fork River in western Montana, roughly 25 miles east of Missoula. The park preserves a riparian corridor of towering cottonwoods and provides direct access to half a mile of riverfront for fishing and floating. Boating is carry-in only, making it ideal for kayaks, canoes, and float tubes. A one-hour self-guided nature trail loops through the shaded forest. The campground offers 24 sites with electrical hookups suitable for tents and RVs, plus two distinctive 18-foot Sioux-style tipis available for rental. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. Facilities include flush toilets, vault toilets, potable water (seasonal), and trash service. The park is ADA accessible. Vehicle access runs from May 1 through October 31. During winter months (November 1 through the Wednesday before Memorial Day), the park is closed to motorized traffic and overnight camping, though walk-in day use is permitted year-round.

Directions

Located at 29895 Bonita Station Road, Clinton, MT. From Missoula, take I-90 east approximately 25 miles to Exit 126 (Bonita Station Road). The park is on the south side of the interstate along the Clark Fork River.
