About
Golden Trout Campground offers a rustic camping experience in the Plumas National Forest on the Feather River Ranger District. Situated at 4,000 feet elevation, this 15-site campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. The campground charges $15 per night and accommodates up to 6 people and 2 vehicles per site, with a 14-day stay limit. One site is ADA accessible, and several sites can accommodate large groups. Campground amenities include vault toilets and a hand pump providing non-potable water. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The area is bear country, so proper food storage is required. Pets are allowed but must be on leash and attended at all times. OHV use is prohibited within the campground itself, but OHV riding opportunities are available in the surrounding forest. The campground serves as a base for stream fishing, day hiking, and nature viewing. Senior and Access passes are honored for discounts on single campsites. The campground typically remains open until snow restricts access, making it primarily a spring through fall destination. The Feather River Ranger District office in Oroville can provide current conditions and additional information.
Directions
