About

Gateview Campground provides a secluded, primitive camping experience in one of the more remote corners of Curecanti National Recreation Area. Located in a deep, narrow canyon at the southern tip of the Lake Fork Arm of Blue Mesa Reservoir, this small campground offers just 6 sites at an elevation of 7,538 feet. All sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. The campground is best suited for tent campers seeking solitude. Access requires driving 6 miles on a narrow, winding gravel road (Blue Mesa Cutoff Road/CR-25) that makes even small RVs or pop-up trailers inadvisable. Facilities are minimal: seasonal vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Each site has a fire grate where campfires are permitted. Summer weather brings daytime temperatures ranging from 50 to 90°F, with cooler nights between 40 and 60°F. Afternoon thunderstorms and strong winds are common. The campground operates seasonally and closes during winter months.
