Blue Mesa Water Update
As of 8/22 cyanotoxin levels were negative/below acceptable State of Colorado public health levels at Iola Basin. Cautionary signs will remain posted around Iola Basin on Blue Mesa Reservoir due to possible future reoccurrence as conditions may change.

Located 17 miles west of Gunnison just north of U.S. Highway 50, Dry Gulch Campground sits at 7,560 feet elevation in Curecanti National Recreation Area. The campground features 9 first-come, first-served campsites shaded by large cottonwood trees, accommodating both tents and medium-sized RVs with parking areas ranging from 20-35 feet in length. A horse corral is available for equestrian visitors. Seasonal amenities include vault toilets, potable water, trash collection, and food storage lockers. Fires are allowed in provided metal grates at each campsite, and camp stoves are permitted. The campground operates seasonally from spring through fall, typically closing for winter due to snow and weather conditions. Nightly camping fees are $20, with a discounted rate of $10 for valid Senior or Access pass holders. Group size is limited to eight people and two vehicles per site. Weather at this elevation varies greatly throughout the day. Summer temperatures range from 50-90°F during the day and 40-60°F at night. Afternoon thunderstorms and strong winds are common during summer months. The campground's unpaved surfaces and seasonal operations reflect the mountain environment of western Colorado.
