About

Garden Creek Recreation Site is a primitive BLM campground nestled in an aspen grove along the Big Lost River, approximately 60 miles from Arco at the border of the Challis National Forest. The campground features 5 first-come, first-served campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. A vault toilet is available on-site, but there is no potable water, and visitors should expect limited cell service. The Big Lost River offers fishing opportunities for Brook, Rainbow, and Cutthroat Trout. Hikers can access the Deep Creek Trailhead just 3.5 miles south at the Challis National Forest boundary, while wildlife enthusiasts can travel about 15 miles north on ID-93 to the Whiskey Springs Wildlife Viewing Area to observe waterfowl in the Chilly Slough Wetlands Conservation Area. Access to the campground is via Trail Creek Road, which extends 13.7 miles west from Highway 93. This remote location offers a peaceful camping experience in a scenic mountain setting. Campers must pack out all trash, and the stay limit is 14 consecutive days.
