About

Garden Creek Campground is a quiet, primitive BLM recreation site situated in a scenic aspen grove along the Big Lost River at the edge of the Challis National Forest in Custer County, Idaho. The campground offers 5 first-come, first-served sites with a 14-day stay limit and no fee. This remote location provides limited cell service, so plan accordingly. The area offers excellent outdoor recreation opportunities. Hikers can access the Deep Creek Trailhead just 3.5 miles south at the Challis National Forest border. Wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate the Whiskey Springs Wildlife Viewing Area approximately 15 miles north on ID-93, where waterfowl and other wildlife can be observed in the Chilly Slough Wetlands Conservation Area. This is a primitive campground with no potable water, so campers must pack in all drinking water and supplies. The Big Lost River provides scenic backdrop and fishing opportunities for those with valid Idaho fishing licenses.
