About

Loran Camp, also known as Loran/Claiborne Trailhead Camp, is a primitive camping area in Kisatchie National Forest's Calcasieu Ranger District, purpose-built for ATV and motorcycle users. The campground sits adjacent to the day-use parking area and provides direct access to the Claiborne Multiple-Use Trail system, which offers more than 70 miles of designated trails for motorized recreation, hiking, and mountain biking. Camping here is intentionally rustic. Vault restrooms and trash receptacles are provided, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Sites are non-electric with no hookups available. Payment is $10 per night for single sites, with Interagency Senior/Access pass holders receiving a 50% discount. Trail use fees are $5 per operator per day. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis only with no advance reservations. Campers must physically arrive to claim and pay for a site. On-site payment may be available via QR code through the Recreation.gov mobile app. Trail status can change with rainfall conditions; the OHV Hotline at 318-473-7069 provides 24/7 updates. Horses are not permitted at this location.
