About

Granite Bay is one of several entrance points to Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, situated in the Sierra Nevada foothills approximately 25 miles east of Sacramento. This day-use area provides access to Folsom Lake's northern shores via Douglas Boulevard and is popular for its beach, swimming areas, and water recreation opportunities. The main beach features flush toilets, water faucets, and picnic facilities. Two reservable group picnic sites accommodate up to 100 people each with eleven picnic tables and large BBQ stations. The Granite Bay area includes boat launch facilities with Stage 2 and Stage 4 launches depending on lake levels. An equestrian staging area with hitching rails and water troughs provides access to the recreation area's 95 miles of trails shared by horseback riders, hikers, and bicyclists. Dogs are allowed in most areas but not permitted in designated swim areas. While Granite Bay offers extensive day-use recreation on the 18,000-acre lake and surrounding lands, overnight camping is not available at this location. Campers should instead reserve sites at Beals Point Campground or Peninsula Campground, both located elsewhere within Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. Vehicle day-use fees apply year-round with park hours varying seasonally.
