About

Flossy Bay Dispersed Camp North Site is a primitive dispersed camping area located within the Flathead National Forest in Flathead County, Montana. As a dispersed site, it offers free camping in a backcountry setting without developed amenities or services. The site follows standard Flathead National Forest dispersed camping regulations, which permit camping almost anywhere on the forest outside of developed recreation areas. Campers must be self-sufficient and follow Leave No Trace principles, as there are no restrooms, water sources, or trash collection. All visitors must comply with the forest's food storage order designed to minimize grizzly bear and black bear conflicts. The maximum stay limit is 16 days, though some areas may have shorter posted limits. Campfires are allowed using existing fire rings where available, and all fires must be completely extinguished before leaving. This area provides access to the natural beauty of the Flathead National Forest, situated in the Rocky Mountains west of the Continental Divide. Dispersed camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations or fees required.
