AQAMSO WHAT: Air Quality Advisory because of degraded air quality due to wildfire smoke. Air Quality Index is forecast to be Unhealthy. WHERE... Clearwater and Idaho Counties outside of reservation boundaries. WHEN: Extended until 3:00PM 8/10/2026 IMPACTS: Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Air pollutants can cause breathing difficult for children, the elderly, as well as persons with respiratory problems. Those individuals who are sensitive to increased particulate matter or smoke are encouraged to avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity during this advisory. Open burning is prohibited by air quality rule. It is also recommended that all other individuals limit prolonged or strenuous activity outdoors. Junction Creek Camp is a primitive dispersed camping area situated within the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests in Clearwater County, Idaho. The site provides a basic, no-frills camping experience for visitors who prefer remote backcountry settings over developed campgrounds. As a primitive forest camping area, visitors should come fully prepared with all necessary supplies including water, as typical amenities found at developed campgrounds are not available. The remote location offers solitude and access to the surrounding forest for hiking, wildlife viewing, and exploring the diverse landscapes of the Nez Perce-Clearwater region. Access may be limited seasonally due to snow and road conditions typical of mountain areas in north-central Idaho. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system.
Directions
From Durango, CO: Travel west on 25th Street (across from the fairgrounds entrance) for just over three miles to the forest boundary. Continue just over a mile to the campground entrance. The day-use area loops to the left.
