About
Fishermens Bend Recreation Site is managed by the Bureau of Land Management and sits along the scenic North Santiam River in a heavily forested area near Mill City, Oregon. Located 29 miles east of Salem on Highway 22, the site provides river access and outdoor recreation opportunities in the heart of Oregon's timber country. The recreation area features the Cottonwoods group picnic shelter available by reservation, seven first-come-first-served individual picnic sites with tables and barbecue grills, a boat launch for river access, hiking trails around River Loop and to a fishing overlook, and porta potties. Day-use fees apply and can be paid onsite or through Recreation.gov. Northwest Oregon District Annual Day Passes and America the Beautiful Interagency Passes are accepted. While Fishermens Bend previously operated as a full-service campground with amenities including hot showers and RV hookups, it currently offers day-use only with no camping or dump station available. Nearby attractions include North Santiam State Park next door, John Neal Memorial County Park within 15 minutes, and Silver Falls State Park 45 minutes away featuring ten waterfalls.
