About

Fish Creek Campground is a remote, high-elevation destination in the Kern River Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest, situated at 7,400 feet along Fish Creek. The campground offers 40 sites on paved roads, with 12 sites accommodating RVs up to 24 feet. Located 54 miles northeast of Kernville via Mountain Road 99 and Sherman Pass Road, or 32 miles west of Highway 395 via Nine Mile Canyon Road, the campground provides a quieter alternative to busier Sierra Nevada destinations. Facilities include vault toilets, potable water from faucets, and picnic tables at sites. There is no trash service, so campers must pack out all garbage. The area offers opportunities for fishing in Fish Creek, hiking, OHV riding, and wildlife viewing. Campfire permits are required for any campfires, barbecues, or camp stoves. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 6 AM. Pets are allowed on a 6-foot leash. The remote location and moderate elevation make this an excellent basecamp for exploring the southern Sierra Nevada backcountry.

Directions

From Kernville, drive 54 miles northeast on Mountain Road 99, then east on Sherman Pass Road (Forest Road 22S05). Alternatively, from Highway 395, drive 32 miles west via Nine Mile Canyon Road (J41). All roads are paved.
