About
Horse Meadow Campground is a primitive forest campground at 7,600 feet elevation in the Kern River Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest. The 41 campsites are situated along Salmon Creek near Cherry Hill Road (22S12/23S10), offering a quiet mountain setting among conifer forests. Despite its name, this campground does not allow horses or pack animals. Sites come equipped with picnic tables and vault toilets, but water available on site is non-potable only. Campers should bring their own drinking water and pack out all trash. A valid California campfire permit is required for fires, and restrictions may apply based on current fire danger conditions. This is black bear country, so special food storage rules are in effect. The maximum RV length is 22 feet, making this campground better suited for tents, truck campers, and smaller trailers rather than large RVs.
