Fifield Recreation Area is situated on the shores of Lake Red Rock, Iowa's largest lake, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This day-use facility features four reservable group picnic shelters, each equipped with 20-amp electrical outlets, fire rings, and outdoor grills. Flush toilets are conveniently located nearby. When not reserved, shelters are available first-come, first-served at no charge. Shelter occupancy is permitted until dusk, and overnight camping is not allowed. The recreation area is surrounded by hardwood forests that provide shade and scenic lake views. Lake Red Rock offers excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing along designated water trails. Anglers can target crappie, walleye, largemouth and striped bass, channel and flathead catfish, northern pike, and bluegill. The area is abundant with wildlife, including waterfowl, American White Pelicans in spring and fall, bald eagles from November through March, and whitetailed deer and turkeys year-round. The 15-mile paved Volksweg Trail is accessible nearby for hiking and biking. Fifield is located 10 miles from Pella, known for its Dutch heritage, and 15 miles from Knoxville.
