Misery Spring Campground sits high in the Blue Mountains of southeastern Washington within the Umatilla National Forest. The campground offers sweeping panoramic views from Ray Ridge looking into the Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness, making it a scenic basecamp for backcountry exploration. The campground is primitive with minimal facilities: a single vault toilet and picnic tables. There is no potable water, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The site is free to use and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Access requires travel on forest roads from Pomeroy, Washington. The campground is popular with hunters and hikers seeking solitude and wilderness access. Wilderness restrictions apply when entering the adjacent Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness.

Directions

From Pomeroy, Washington (90 minutes): Take 15th Street south from State Highway 12. Continue 15 miles to the National Forest boundary where the road becomes gravel Forest Road 40. Continue south on FR 40 for 15 miles to the Misery intersection. Turn right onto Forest Road 4030, then turn left onto 4030-20 and follow to Misery Spring Campground.
