About
Fanning Springs State Park sits along the Suwannee River in Levy County, Florida, centered around a second-magnitude spring that pumps 65 million gallons of water daily. The park offers five spacious two-bedroom cabins that sleep up to six guests each, featuring queen and twin beds, a fully-equipped kitchen with utensils and linens, central heating and cooling, an electric fireplace, and a screened porch with rocking chairs overlooking the natural surroundings. Each cabin includes an outdoor picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Primitive camping is available exclusively for paddlers on the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail, hikers, and cyclists. The primitive site accommodates up to eight people and is located at the top of the river bank above the canoe launch. Amenities at the primitive site are minimal: an outdoor cold-water shower, restrooms approximately 600 feet away, and a water faucet about 300 feet distant. No electricity or overnight vehicle parking is available at the primitive site. The park serves as a key stop along the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail, with Manatee Springs State Park just 7 miles downstream. Visitors can swim in the spring, paddle the spring run and river, and hike the Palmetto Path loop trail through forests and sinkholes. The Nature Coast Trail paved bike path crosses US 19 within half a mile of the park entrance, connecting to Chiefland, Cross City, and Trenton.
