Open — Likely inaccessible during winter due to snow and unmaintained forest roads. Typically accessible from late spring through fall.

About

Falls Creek 998 combines a trailhead facility with dispersed camping opportunities in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. Located approximately 7 miles from Highway 12 via Indian Creek Road, the site provides access to the Falls Creek Trail, a 2.4-mile easy hike that leads to lower Longfellow Park and connects with Trail 109 near Church Spring. The trail traverses forested mountain terrain primarily used for hunting and wildlife viewing. As a dispersed trailhead campground, the facility offers primitive camping with minimal development. Campers should expect no amenities and must practice Leave No Trace principles. The area sits in the Big Belt Mountains at moderate elevation, with access via forest roads that may require high-clearance vehicles depending on conditions. The recommended seasons for visiting are spring, summer, and fall when forest roads are passable and trail conditions are favorable. Winter access is not maintained, and snow typically closes forest roads from late fall through spring. No fees are required for camping or trailhead use.
