About
Eagles Nest Campground provides a unique Lake Tahoe camping experience that combines natural beauty with resort convenience at the historic Camp Richardson Resort on the southern shore. The campground features 25 double standard tent sites and 6 triple standard tent sites nestled under towering pine trees at 6,225 feet elevation. Each campsite is equipped with a bear-proof food locker, picnic table, and fire pit with cooking grate.
Located directly across Highway 89 from Lake Tahoe, the campground offers easy beach access and proximity to all resort amenities. Within walking distance, guests can enjoy an ice cream parlor, general store, lakeside restaurant, mountain sports center with equipment rentals, and various watercraft rental options. The crystal-clear waters of Lake Tahoe, the towering Sierra Nevada mountains, and lush forests create a stunning natural backdrop for outdoor activities including hiking, biking, fishing, paddling, and swimming.
The campground operates seasonally during summer months and provides modern bathroom facilities during the camping season. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov. This is a tent-only campground with strict policies including no pets allowed (service dogs only) and campfires permitted only in designated fire rings when the campground is open.
Directions
Camp Richardson Resort is located on the south shore of Lake Tahoe on Highway 89. From Sacramento, take U.S. Highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe and proceed northwest past the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Highway 89. Look for the Camp Richardson Resort sign on the right side of the highway. Eagles Nest Campground is located approximately 3 miles north of the Y intersection.
