Eagles Nest Campground provides a unique Lake Tahoe camping experience that combines the beauty of the Sierra Nevada with the convenience of Camp Richardson Resort's amenities. Located on Highway 89 on Tahoe's south shore, the campground sits at 6,225 feet elevation surrounded by towering pine forests and crystal-clear mountain air. The 31 tent-only sites are divided between 25 double standard sites (up to 12 people, 4 tents) and 6 triple sites (up to 18 people, 6 tents). Every campsite comes equipped with a bear-proof food locker, picnic table, fire pit with cooking grate, and paved parking pad. The campground has accessible flush toilets and coin-operated showers. Within walking distance, campers can access Camp Richardson Resort's full amenities including a bar and grill, general store with deli, full-service marina, and ice cream parlor. A paved bike path leads to Lake Tahoe's sandy beach in about 10 minutes. This is a strictly tent-only campground with no RVs permitted. Pets are prohibited except for service animals. The campground enforces quiet hours from 10pm to 8am and has 24-hour security staffing. Forest-wide limits restrict camping to a maximum of 14 days per calendar year.

Directions

From Sacramento, take US Highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe and proceed north past the intersection of US Highway 50 and Highway 89 (the Y). Look for the Camp Richardson Resort sign on the right side of the highway. From North Shore via I-80, Reno, or Truckee, take Highway 89 or US Highway 50 to South Shore. Check in at the Eagles Nest Campground Kiosk on Highway 89.
