About

Dyers Creek Recreation Area sits on the sparkling shores of Lake Barkley in the wooded rolling hills of western Tennessee. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, this lakeside facility provides an ideal setting for family picnics, group gatherings, and water-based recreation. The area is not an overnight campground but rather a day-use facility featuring two large group shelters available for reservation. Each group shelter accommodates up to 100 people and 50 vehicles, with electric hookups for event needs. The recreation area includes flush toilets, a two-lane boat ramp with courtesy dock, playground with swings, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing for bass and catfish during warm months, swimming, and wildlife watching for white-tailed deer, raccoons, and bald eagles. Lake Barkley, the westernmost lake on the Cumberland River, is connected by canal to Kentucky Lake, forming one of the largest freshwater recreation complexes in the country. The nearby Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area offers additional hiking trails, wildlife viewing, and off-highway vehicle riding.
