About
Dungeness Forks Campground is a small, secluded camping area located at the confluence of the Dungeness and Graywolf Rivers within Olympic National Forest. Nestled in a shaded, forested environment dominated by evergreen conifers, this remote campground offers 10 tent-only sites for visitors seeking a more primitive camping experience. The campground sits at approximately 1,000 feet elevation and is accessible via a steep, one-lane unpaved road that makes it unsuitable for trailers, motorhomes, and RVs. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis during its seasonal operation from late spring through September. Payment is cashless and can be made on-site via credit or debit card at self-service stations, or through the Recreation.gov mobile app using the Scan & Pay feature. Campers should download the app before arrival as cellular service may be limited in this remote area. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets available. However, there is no potable water on-site, so campers must bring their own drinking water. Visitors are required to pack out all garbage and leave their campsite clean. The campground serves as a base for exploring several nearby hiking trails within 10 miles, including Graywolf Trail, Upper and Lower Dungeness Trail, Royal Creek Trail, and Tubal Cain Trail. Note that Upper Dungeness Trail and Royal Creek Trail require a Recreation Pass at the trailhead. Fishing and hunting opportunities are available in the surrounding area, and pets are permitted but must be kept on leash at all times.
