About

Located at 5,400 feet elevation in Olympic National Park, Deer Park Campground provides a high-altitude camping experience with panoramic mountain views and exceptional stargazing opportunities. The campground is situated at the terminus of Deer Park Road, approximately 18 miles from Highway 101 near Port Angeles. The access road is challenging and adventurous, with the last nine miles being steep, narrow gravel not suitable for RVs or trailers. This remote location rewards visitors with solitude and stunning alpine scenery. The campground offers 14 first-come, first-served campsites equipped with fire rings and picnic tables. Food storage lockers are provided due to wildlife activity in the area. Campers should come prepared as the campground has no potable water and only seasonal vault toilets. The high elevation means cooler temperatures even in summer, and snow can persist into early summer or arrive in early fall. Firewood gathering is prohibited, so bring your own firewood or use a camp stove. The campground operates seasonally, typically from mid-June through mid-October depending on snow conditions, with the access road closed at the park boundary during winter months.
