About

Deer Creek Campground is a primitive camping area in Sawtooth National Forest's Ketchum Ranger District, featuring 12-15 campsites scattered along approximately 6 miles of Deer Creek Road. The campsites range from developed sites with picnic tables and fire rings to primitive sites with only stone fire rings. The Deer Creek Picnic Area at the end of the road offers 3-4 maintained campsites and a vault toilet. The landscape features southern-exposed hills covered with sagebrush and shaded slopes with forest cover. While not as dramatic as the nearby Sawtooth or Pioneer Mountains, the area provides a peaceful setting for camping, fishing in Deer Creek, and ATV recreation. The creek is small, ideal for wading but not swimming or boating. This is a truly primitive experience with no water, electricity, or garbage services. Campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. The area is accessed via Deer Creek Road (Forest Road 097), approximately 9 miles south of Ketchum on Highway 75, then 10 miles west to the campground.

Directions

From Ketchum, drive south approximately 9 miles on ID 75. Turn west onto Deer Creek Road (Forest Road #097) and continue approximately 9 miles to the campground.
