About
Deer Creek Campground is a small, primitive campground situated along Deer Creek in Wyoming's Shoshone National Forest. The six sites are nestled in bear country at the edge of the Washakie Wilderness, offering a quiet basecamp for backcountry exploration. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with grill, bear-resistant food storage box, and space for RV parking or a tent pad. The campground serves as the trailhead for the Deer Creek Trail, which leads into the Washakie Wilderness. A short hike from camp rewards visitors with views of scenic Deer Creek Falls. The remote location 40 miles south of Cody on State Highway 291 (South Fork Road) keeps crowds minimal. This is a pack-it-out campground with no potable water, no garbage service, and vault toilets only. Food storage in the provided bear boxes is required. Maximum spur length is 16 feet, making this campground unsuitable for large RVs or trailers. Payment is cash or check only at $10 per night.
Directions
From Cody, travel south on State Highway 291 (South Fork Road) for 40 miles to the campground.
