About
Deam Lake State Recreation Area sits in the rolling hills of southern Indiana, roughly 25 miles northwest of Louisville, Kentucky. The 1,300-acre property centers on a 194-acre lake built in the 1960s, offering a quiet retreat with swimming beaches, fishing for largemouth bass and bluegill, and non-motorized boating. The park connects to the Clark State Forest trail system, providing over 12 miles of bridle paths that wind through hardwood forests. The family campground contains 113 electric campsites spread across sections A through F, each with a fire ring, picnic table, and parking spur. Modern restroom and shower facilities serve the campground, with drinking water fill stations and a dump station available. The equestrian campground offers 63 electric sites with hitching posts and 36 sites with horse stalls, making it a popular destination for trail riders. Nineteen rent-a-camp cabins are available seasonally from April through October. The park hosts a Forest Education Center with naturalist-led programming during warmer months. Paddleboats, kayaks, and rowboats can be rented at the beach area. The campground operates year-round and accepts reservations up to six months in advance through Camp.IN.gov.
Directions
From I-65, take Exit 7 (Memphis/Blue Lick Road). Head west on State Road 60 for approximately 2 miles, then turn north onto Deam Lake Road. The park entrance is about 1.5 miles ahead.
