Starve Hollow State Recreation Area

Open

Open for camping May through October. Blue-green algae found in lakes year-round; do not drink the water and shower after swimming.

About

Starve Hollow State Recreation Area encompasses a 145-acre lake and surrounding forest in the rolling hills of Jackson County, Indiana. The campground provides 150 sites across several loops: 87 electric sites, 53 full hookup sites with water and sewer, and 10 non-electric primitive sites. Each campsite includes a fire ring, picnic table, and parking spur. Modern restrooms with showers are wheelchair accessible, and a dump station serves RV campers. The lake offers a swimming beach with a seasonal beach house, three boat ramps, fishing docks, and a fish cleaning station. Boat and canoe rentals are available during the camping season. Beyond the water, visitors can explore hiking trails through the hardwood forest and stop by the nature center. The area also features 13 rent-a-camp cabins and group picnic shelters. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance through Camp.IN.gov. Check-in and check-out time is 2:00 PM, with quiet hours from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM and a maximum of six people per site.
