Davis Canyon Campground

Davis Canyon Campground is located in a scenic canyon along St. Charles Creek in the Bear Lake Ranger District of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The setting features a mixed-growth conifer and aspen forest that provides shade and a pleasant atmosphere for camping. The campground has one group site composed of three individual sites that can accommodate up to 40 people, plus a single individual site available on a first-come, first-served basis when the group site isn't reserved. Recreation opportunities abound in the area. The North Fork Trail provides access to the Highline Trail #316, part of the National Trail System stretching 55 miles along the Wasatch Mountains backbone. This premier trail welcomes hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and motorcyclists. St. Charles Creek offers excellent fishing managed by Idaho Fish and Game. Big game hunting is popular in season. Minnetonka Cave, one of only two developed caves in the Forest Service system, lies just a few miles away with guided tours running every 30 minutes from early June through Labor Day. The Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge north of Bear Lake provides excellent bird watching opportunities.

Directions

Take U.S. Highway 89 north from Garden City, Utah, or south from Montpelier, Idaho, to St. Charles. Drive west from St. Charles along Forest Road 412 about 6 miles to the campground.
